(Note as written by me on April 19th, 2011 on my Double T Nation Blog):
For pete's sake already, people, stop hating on our Spurs.I can't for the life of me figure out why so many sport's fans/pundits/commentators trash talk our beloved Spurs simply because they are boring; not exactly newsworthy because they are not considered "bad boys" or because controversy is not a constant follower of theirs (Spurs). Most disregard them from post-season play not because the Spurs are not a good team and do not earn their way into the play-offs, but because they are simply a boring team. Within this messed up world of sports where bad boys take all the attention, the Spurs are a team too sluggish in the rumor-mill division to mention. Because they yield a very low viewer audience when their games are televised, the Spurs are a team non-grata for the snobs to mention or to pick as a power-house or worthy of championship status.
Yet in this same lowly world of sports that caters way too much to the bad boys, when a player or a team screws up and causes much too much turmoil, the haters have the audacity to play the 'woe is me" card wondering where all the good players and teams have gone off to - where did our sport's heroes go off to?
I'll tell you where my heroes in the wide world of sports are...they are in San Antonio sporting (pardon the pun) the colors of silver and black with a spurs logo emblazoned on the front of their jersey and most likely embedded in their hearts as well as is embedded in my heart.
