Patriot Day 2012: Remembering 9/11 and Holding Our Country to Higher Standards In Memory Of Thousands of Victims of That Fateful Day!

Remembering 9/11:  In shame I mis-trust!
Today is a somber day obvious as we remember the terrible occurrences of 9/11, but it also brings to me other feelings combined with disappointment, anger and disbelief.  No, not because of the events which took place on that unforgettable day in September, those feelings are overt, the negative feelings I felt as I awoke today are associated with the cold, frozen position in which this country appears to be some 11 years later.
As I watched various news programs recanting and replaying the events of that day, I could not help but be moved by the awesomeness which drove people on that frightening day to help their fellow man after the towers were hit and fell to our dismay and when we all knew for sure it was a terrorist attack which had befallen this awesome country.  No one asked one another if they were Caucasian, Latino, Asian, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, American, European, heterosexual, gay…each person who loaned a hand despite the daunting, arduous  task staring them in the eye seeing how much tons of debris they would have to muddle through simply did so because it was the right thing to do.  No one questioned anything knowing deep down that they, too, were still in danger of getting hurt or worse.  Without a second thought they just jumped in and helped because they wanted to help their fellow man…no one gave a second thought to the idea that though they had survived the attacks that their respective lives were still in danger as they tore through the rubble to look for other possible survivors or simply to locate bodies or other forms of identification so that the loved ones would have something to bury.
I watched television today and saw various politicians, military personnel, and other people of different backgrounds and such as they paid their respects through-out different locations where the attacks occurred on that gloomy day in September - then I muted the television.  As I did as such it came to my mind, with both sadness and anger, it came to my mind that if I did not know any better and already knew that their heads were lowered out of respect for 9/11, for a moment of silence, that it could have very well been that their heads were instead lowered in shame.  Shame you might ask…why?  Simple…because so many people gave their lives on that September day so that the rest of us could live on in peace and keep living the American dream and keep fighting the good fight yet 11 years later this country finds itself at the helm of too much unnecessary turmoil!
Take the passengers of Flight 93 which crashed in the desolate field which was actually a reclaimed strip mine in Stonycreek Township near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, they shared one thing different I presume than the other ill-fated victims of the other three plane crashes that morning, they knew without a doubt what negative impact might bestow this country and each one knew of the most probable demise they were faced with, but they took action to try to regain control of their flight.  They voted and decided to take action against their captures…they stared death in the face and opted to take a stance and make their move…"Let’s roll!" was their final battle cry!  I am certain each person who took action wanted a better outcome and their actions were led by the desire to survive, but they also knew that for the betterment of thousands more on the ground that they needed to do everything they could to deny the four hijackers of their plane from causing greater harm.  The heroes of this flight also knew the dangers their plane might cause to Washington if it was allowed to crash anywhere in the area.  They selflessly tried to regain control so that government could continue to govern, so that freedom could continue to shine in this awesome country.  Their actions brave and heroic were certainly not in vain.  We owe them so much; we can never repay them for what their actions saved for the rest of us on that day.
Eleven years later and yes Washington continues to govern but they do so on such a pathetic level.  The warm-fuzzies we all held on 9/11 and in day, weeks, months ahead of us in this nation have since passed and things are back to status quo.  Politicians on the hill are more divided than ever.  As the victims of flight 93 perished for our good, the politicians keep politicking for selfish reasons.  They have veered into cold, ugly positions where compassion, diplomacy and democracy has eluded their ways.  The right wing and left wing of politics is more divided than ever and ideas and views no longer are shared.  If it is not their way it is the wrong way no matter if the idea is actually a good one that should probably be enacted into law.  Disrespecting one another seems to be the norm and hatred and vitriol is also happenstance.  Shamefully calling for the leader of our country, our president, our commander-in-chief, to show his birth certificate and the hatred which has befallen him by his political opponents is probably not part of the ideas or ideals that the victims of flight 93 died for on 9/11.  I am still taken aback by the lack of shame, regret and remorse which has escaped so many politicians and fellow Americans every time someone or an organization curses our president referring to him many things which he clearly is not and not for; my gosh, who does such things?  Demanding to see a birth certificate of our president is so juvenile, humiliating and has only gone on to make our awesome country appear ignorant and hateful to the rest of the world.  Is this where politicians really want to take our country 'back to"; personally I vote for not just "NO" but for a "HELL NO"!  Calling our president a Muslim when in essence he is not is done in spite and to incite the hatred that many people have come to allow into their world, into their hearts post 9/11.  A group of terrorists who happened to be Muslim attacked America not the religious group as a whole, but the ignorant masses of Americans who became too radical could not see the difference.  They saw it as one thing, one group, one belief.  The same mistakes which have long plagued our awesome country during past wars was once again leading many down the wrong path in this new millennium.  Lest we forget the wrong decisions that our previous experiences and fear has caused us to make in the past.  For instance the awful and so not very Christian-like  Japanese war camps this country set-up in our own backyard during WWII, the mistreatment of thousands of Japanese-Americans during this time of war that saw many of these citizens stripped of their rights, their freedom, their possessions and separated them from their loved ones.  Negative actions like those are what faces this country once again if we do not turn from our close-minded ways and begin to really accept one another for not just who we are but for what we are and what we stand for and for the differences we all bring to the table.  We need to celebrate those differences and respect them so that we do not allow our judgment to be clouded in a manner which keeps us from doing good deeds and to make better, sound decisions for the betterment of this awesome country.
Ultimately as the citizenry of this awesome country, we ALL need to hold our respective politicians to the same high standards or perhaps higher so that they are more afraid of not getting along because their constituency will, without the blink of an eye, vote them out of office.  Awesome would be if politicians especially senators and representatives would once again revert back to the days which Ted Kennedy once spoke about when all politicians would gather for drinks and cigars after a long battle on the hill to not only fellowship and form friendships but to decide, off the record, those difficult decisions facing them on the hill the next day or days to follow.  To simply get along and make decisions for love of country instead of allowing divisiveness to be their guiding light because being right and having their ideas become law was more important than actually bringing good ideas to fruition for the betterment of the masses.  To be better and more honorable so that the victims of flight 93, all victims of 9/11, and their legacies to never succumb to vanity for what they lost on that somber September day.

LANCE ARMSTRONG: Dope On A Rope: Tired of Fighting...Wllling To Throw It All Away (Hmmm)!

LANCE ARMSTRONG: "Say it isn't so, Joe" ('er, Lance): Armstrong Ends His Fight To Battle Doping Allegations!

Mon Dieu….too much to lose.   But it makes one wonder nonetheless.
I am not a fan of his anymore. It ended abruptly when he was interviewed once and made some disturbing remarks about Sheryl Crow whom he had just broken up with right smack in the middle of her own life battle against cancer.  One had to see it to be taken aback by it. Being a fan of both, I was immediately drawn to her side because she took the high road. His remarks just made him appear small and not such the philanthropist he wanted many to think he was. Personally the guy made himself look like a bum.
Plus I did not like how he under sold members of his previous team mates who helped him with so many cycling victories all those years, some during his own fight against cancer when the cycling world turned their backs on Lance. Then there is his mistreatment of my fav American cyclist, George Hincapie (who was Lance’s good friend while serving as domestique for Lance during his 7 year reign and then some), during one of Lance's come-back attempts; 2009 Le Tour de France - that instance was to me the most appalling action by Armstrong; George and Lance ended up on different bike teams. That bully treatment by Lance over George took place that year during Stage 14 when Hincapie was purposely denied winning/donning of the yellow jersey (for one day) because of antics between two other teams and Lance's Team Astana also helped drive the knife into the ordeal and Lance did nothing. Even though he was the leader of Astana, he did not relegate his team to stand-down and it all coupled and led to Hincapie being denied the wearing of the much coveted maillot jaune; if even for just one day - it also denied history from being made and George from getting something he really wanted and rightly deserved. Karma is a real bitch and one pays for ones misdeeds, monsieur Armstrong.
Honestly, I really do hate to see Armstrong denied of all victories and such esp when doping allegations never were proven but it wound down to him having to be the one disprove it all and now he is tired and stands to lose all accolades; titles, trophies, and money - though the latter won't matter since he has since made millions and millions of dollars to make up for money he may have to pay back. It saddens me mostly because Lance did make this American woman take interest in cycling watching most major tours and esp made me eager to learn the logistics of it all which led me to love Le Tour most of all. As I lost interest in Lance, my love affair with Le Tour and other tours, and other keen cyclists continued and grew.
If Lance loses everything as is alleged, sad as it may be, it is what it is. I may have a personal dislike for him, but certainly do not wish him any ill will like this. He can't keep fighting allegations each and every year and now he is ready to give up battling, but that makes one wonder; "Why not, Mr. Armstrong?" All that money and power and you are giving up now?

Bidding Adieu To The 2012 London Olympics: Well Executed, Thanks For The Memories...'ELLO - Catch You Later, This Time Perhaps In Person!

One word: WOW!  Bidding adieu to new-found friends, ideas, and sporting events as the 2012 London Olympics come to a close.
All I can say is that Great Britain did a phenomenal job at putting together the event; it was such a huge, arduous task and bringing it to fruition for the last couple of weeks as they did was nothing short of awesome - a true success.  These games exposed the world to new sports and athletes as it should.
The various NBC networks also excelled as it usually had events showing 24/7 on several of their respective channels.  Great Britain's IOC as well did a great job of making sure all events were televised according to importance or nature all the while ensuring as well that all events were streaming properly and timely for those who wanted to venture via the  Internet venue.  Their web site was the best thus far allowing fans to be interactive at the touch of a button.  Social media for once utilized properly (tagging and such at its best) which allowed millions from all around the world to be as one.
Like it is when communicating via a phone, a text, email, social media and such with a wonderful, reliable, old friend who brings out not only the best in us but reminds us of good times perhaps even better times, we long for their company the moment we end the communication.  This is what the 2012 London games did for me, and though the closing ceremonies have yet to air, I miss the event and even the region already.  The feelings of melancholy which encompasses us as we say 'so long' to that one aforementioned friend inspires us to hop on a plane or get behind the wheel of a vehicle to see that friend in person.  We long for their company and mere e-communication no longer keeps us satisfied; we long for live visitation...we long for that human-touch!  Maybe yours truly who happens to be a sport's fanatic who seldom turns her nose at being a spectator of any sport once the logistics are learned will be further inspired to save her coins and plan a visit to London, to Great Britain, to Europe...heck why stop there - I want to visit so many continents and respective countries.  The time to put hesitation to rest and to throw caution to the wind is quickly approaching and planning such a world-wide trip is fast becoming more of a reality than a dream; priority for my 'bucket list'!
As I end this post I ponder with the truth that the entire world is wrapped in beauty and enraptures most to be different, a better kind of different somehow; to perhaps inspire us all to come out of our introverted shells to seek other things and other people.  To enlighten our minds and souls and to remember to always be mindful and open-minded of others and what they have to say and to offer.
For U.S. citizens like myself, that we all humbly remember that as Americans we may live in an awesome country, but we are not the only one at its best or having the best to offer.  G-d bless the entire world!  This person, for one, is so ready to seek adventure in other regions of this wonderful world.  Let us all always remember to celebrate world-wide brotherhood as humans not defined by the country from which we reside, but by what resides in us.

ARMSTRONG'S DOPING DILEMMA: THE SAGA CONTINUES, MORE CYCLISTS AGAINST THE 7-TIME "TOUR DE FRANCE" WINNER!

THE PICTURE SAYS IT ALL!!!
Lance makes it rather difficult lately for other cyclists to come to his defense especially the one's who once rode alongside him during his 7-year Tour dynasty as the unbeatable rider. Only those riders, whether they were on Armstrong's team(s) or not, know what went on and if the 7-time Tour victor really doped or not.  Lance keeps denying allegations and recently announced he was tired of doing so.
Domestiques who rode with Lance during his 7-year long reign of winning the Tour GC and the "maillot jaune" jersey, have not been so quiet; mainly due to Lance's narcissistic reactions and chiding remarks and especially his actions the last two times he tried to forge a come-back to the Tour and he and his team showed a disregard for rules (unwritten) of the race.
One of those negative Lance and company actions took part on July 18, 2009 (Tour stage 14) against one George Hincapie when Team Garmin attacked George on an arduous stage of the race for no reason and Armstrong's team-mates (Team Astana) followed the needless attack which in the end denied the once-loyal Armstrong domestique the chance to don the much-coveted yellow jersey for one day.  Actions which Lance would later deny (post-race day)instead blaming Team Garmin for inciting the attack and his current domestiques for having to pursue the attack.  No real remorse just a non-chalant explanation was made by the rider who in vain tried to show some indignation at Hincapie's loss at wearing yellow.  Such shame from Lance whom was once regarded as a true gentleman and champion. Karma, Lance, Karma...

Manning Bros.: Lil' Bro' Super Bowl Dilemma!

Super Bowl XLVI
February 5, 2012

Eli still trying to overcome the "little brother" dilemma!

When asked how he felt at winning his second super bowl
in the house that "his big brother Peyton built"...
Eli simply and elegantly avoided answering the question imposed by the idiot reporter.
Eli instead re-directed the question being asked (of course for a later media spin)
"It just feels good to win a Super Bowl,"...
"It doesn't matter where you are."

Well stated, Eli, well stated!

Bronx Bomber's To Receive New Battery: Jorge Posada Announces Retirement!

On a personal note:
Lot's of luck to my favorite New York Yankee in his new ventures!
The NY 'battery' will never be the same or fun to watch for me.
Thanks for bringing so much loyalty and integrity to the game;
mostly for your philanthropy & humanity which you generously
embraced as you gave as much back to the community as the game of baseball
and all of its spoils gave to you!
You never forgot your roots along the way.

' So cool and admirable!

Dallas Cowboys: Playoff dilemma: Busted...Eli and the G-men "Cruz" over Romo and Co.

Last night's game against the Giants was nothing short of disappointing, appalling and heart-breaking.
Disappointing because Ryan and his D-line kept repeating the same plays with the same outcome...Eli and his O-team kept traipsing all over them. Ryan needs to consider the 4-3!
Appalling because our 'Boys were playing like this game was not significant and they did not want to be there so they never seemed to give their best. This applies more to the defense.
Heart-breaking because this team was good enough to do better, to have a better season. Good enough to get over that hump to finally beat the Giants and then to get into the play-offs and possibly into the Super Bowl. Yes, I believed Romo and Co. were that good this season.
That's my soapbox moment and all I am going to add is this...
If our 'Boys are going to have a chance at all at reaching a respectable "9-game win season" (or better) in 2012 and in order to reach the play-offs and maybe continue past round one and beyond, the
re are three simple things that need to occur in D-town in 2012.
1) Get wiser during the NFL draft and get "fresh meat" on the D-team...if Ryan seriously wants to stay with the 3-4, the franchise needs to go out and seek players who can execute it.
2) Re-evaluate the 3-4...no está funcionando (it is not working)...make sure the right players are at the ready for any type of defense. Ryan does not to be fired, but he needs to stop being stubborn and rethink things.
3) Go 4-3 with the D-team...start thinking defense as it was that part of the team who failed at the end of the season (3 losses) and sucked up all the team morale. Get a defense that compliments the offense. The offense is good - finally, but they cannot win games alone!
