Denver 35 - Baltimore 38
IMO Bronco's HC John Fox was too conservative during the final minutes/seconds of this all-too important game to not allow Peyton to be Peyton and perhaps throw the ball to avoid o.t. For sure the Denver defensive team screwed up and failed at deep coverage when it counted the most; sloppy play all day long but allowing Flacco and co. that final touchdown was heart-breaking followed by sheer indignation and disbelief. I am making reference of course to Flacco's game-tying touchdown to Jones on third-and-3 from
the 30 with 31 seconds left in regulation and no timeouts. Did the Broncs forget 'Football 101' which dictates that however deep the receivers are you as the defense make certain your cover-man is deeper. Don't get me wrong...Manning did his share of screwing up their chances of advancing (hosting three turnovers) to the AFC title game and perhaps reaching the Super Bowl (XLVII) but enough finger-pointing and accountability goes round this ball club starting from whomever agreed that Manning would not get one or two finals shots towards the end-zone in regulation. Was Manning hurt or what? Only that excuse would suffice in the decision for Denver to take a knee and try for a win in o.t. Stupid!
