The challenge quite literally ended today!
Contador holds onto yellow and will win the
2010 Le Tour de France.
His performance during today's stage 19, ITT stage, proved to be too much for Schleck to match in the end. Schleck did at one time reduce the gap of 8 seconds to just two seconds but as the race progressed, he became tired and not so in control and the time slipped away from his grasp, per se. As he crossed the finish line, a lonely race and a lonely finish for riders during the ITT, his gap had instead increased. With Alberto still on the road as he was the last rider to begin today's stage, Andy's finishing time was made official and the Spaniard having been told of the news found new life, new legs as he sped up toward's his own finish and ended up with a greater gap putting 39 seconds between himself and Schleck. Alberto would reign as the Tour de France Champion. A feat which would see him in his third Yellow Jersey in GC for the third consecutive year in a row. 2010 Le Tour de France.
Vive Alberto Contador! Très bien!
