The Tour began on Saturday 07-03-10 and will end on Sunday 07-25-10. The usual 2 days of official day/time off is in play. Last Monday 07-12-10 was the first day off with the 2nd day off coming this Wednesday 07-21-10. Currently we are in Stage 15 in Pamiers, Bagnères-de-Luchon.
SURPRISES:Many surprises have taken place such as the likes of Lance Armstrong having been taken out of Yellow Jersey (maillot jaune) contention or any podium finish. It occurred during Stage 8, Station des Rousses, Morzine-Avoriaz when his hopes of winning the Tour ended. The Texan (wannabe Longhorn) endured several crashes, blow outs and such during stage 8. He began that stage in 14th place (he had only been behind the leader in GC + 03' 16") through that stage/day but finished the day in 39th place and his overall time fell to + 13' 26". Lance announced he would retire for certain (again) after this Tour.
Withdrawals: Some riders had to withdraw along the way: Stage 3: Fränk Schleck, Christian Vandevelde (listed as a nonstarter). Stage 11: Robbie Hunter. Stage 12: Tyler Farrar.
