(East-region) UConn Huskies vs. (Midwest-region) Kentucky Wildcats
Despite having to rethink and redo my men's 2014 bracket a few times, I still badly picked the Florida Gators to match up against the Wisconsin Badgers in the championship game. Once again, I must reconsider what the hell I am doing. For starters, who would have thought that an 8th ranked UCONN and a 7th ranked KENTUCKY would vie for the 2014 championship; I did not. I first mistakenly picked the Michigan St. Spartans to win the "big dance", but they went out in the "Elite Eight!" I also thought that the championship game would see the Badgers from Wisconsin compete against "Sparty!" Boy, was I ever so wrong.
Bracketology was not nice to thousands of us this year on the men's "March Madness" side of NCAA basketball! Foolishly here I go again with my new, fearless prediction: The Kentucky Wildcats will now win the 2014 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship! TBC...
(Lincoln-region) UConn Lady Huskies vs. (Notre Dame-region) Notre Dame (Lady) Irish
My "Final Four" picks were correct and the Lady Huskies will vie against the Lady Irish for the championship. Both teams still undefeated like they were during the regular season.
In one of the "Final Four" games, Stanford gave UConn a run for their money, but then came the second half and it was all over for the Cardinal and coach VanDerveer. Coach Auriemma's Lady Huskies were not yet ready to go back home and they convincingly beat Stanford (64-48). In the other "Final Four" game, the Lady Irish team handily beat the Lady Terrapins of Maryland (87-61).
Notre Dame Nation is going crazy. Can't you hear the fans and the campus bells. Even the late, legendary football coach Knute Rockne is watching and cheering. George Gipp must also be watching and shouting for the Lady Irish. "Win one for the Gipper!" LOL!
As much as I would love to see Notre Dame win, I still believe that Connecticut will win the 2014 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship! TBC...
